The Marine Lead will oversee and execute all project marine units’ safety and quality assurance activities, acting as Project Marine Coordinator during the Marine Execution phase. They will guide project teams using strong maritime expertise, review and analyze technical and operational challenges, and develop and implement effective solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely Vessel Suitability Surveys, close findings, and manage senior officer approvals and competency assessments per MOP
- Ensure valid OVID inspections, close findings, and oversee MOSI inductions before departure
- Review and vet MUA documents and support marine safety campaigns
- Provide SME input on procedures and participate in risk assessments
- Maintain MUA validity, inspection compliance, and procedural awareness
- Conduct periodic inspections to ensure compliance with standards
- Manage defects and breakdowns, ensure closeout, and issue violation notices
- Support incident investigations and lessons learned processes
- Report KPIs, manage compliance matrix, and attend progress meetings
- Lead demobilization, MUA closeout, and vessel performance reviews
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in sciences, marine disciplines, or engineering, or diploma in marine/nautical studies with STCW II/2 or III/2 certification
- 8 years seagoing experience as shipboard engineer or officer, including at least 1 year as Chief Engineer or Master
- Experience managing offshore marine units in the oil and gas industry
- Strong knowledge of maritime and oil and gas industry regulations, codes, and standards
- Solid technical and operational marine expertise
- Familiar with offshore operations incl installation, construction vessels, barges, heavy lifts, transport, pipe and cable laying, jack-up accommodation, and dive support vessels
- Middle East experience preferred
- Marine Warranty Surveyor or marine consultancy experience preferred, ideally with OVID accreditation
