The Commissioning Specialist I&C oversees and ensures all commissioning activities for field instrumentation and integrated control and safety systems (ICSS) during offshore platform fabrication and pre-commissioning. The role ensures EPC contractors comply with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements, delivering safe, timely, and compliant system handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review EPC commissioning deliverables for I&C systems to ensure readiness for testing and energization
- Witness loop checks, calibration, logic verification, and functional testing per approved procedures
- Verify proper installation, calibration, and setup of field instruments before commissioning
- Ensure ICSS/DCS/PLC systems are fully configured and ready for operation
- Validate loop integrity, wiring, grounding, and signal quality
- Approve commissioning procedures, ensuring full coverage of interlocks, alarms, and safety logic
- Conduct walkdowns to confirm compliance with drawings and hazardous area requirements
- Lead cause & effect testing for ESD, F&G, and system interfaces
- Support dynamic commissioning by monitoring signals and optimizing control performance
- Witness FAT, SAT, and system integration tests, ensuring accurate implementation and documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering
- 8 years’ experience in I&C commissioning
- 3 years in PMT or supervisory roles on large Oil & Gas projects
- Offshore platform and topsides experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of instruments and ICSS systems, including DCS, ESD, F&G, and PLC interfaces
Skills and Competencies
- Strong commitment to site safety protocols and procedures
- EPC support experience in planning and execution phases
- Excellent organizational, technical judgment, and decision-making skills
- Adaptable to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities
- Effective communication, influencing skills, and fluent in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and advanced computer literacy
