The Construction Lead (HVAC) oversees Hook-Up and Commissioning activities, guiding contractors, subcontractors, and vendors while coordinating closely with facilities teams, EPC engineers, and operations personnel. The role also includes supporting workshops, shop inspections, and factory testing across multiple EPCs as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support EPC PMT by reviewing critical documents/reports and attending workshops or review meetings as required.
- Analyse technical proposals, deviations, and new technologies to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Apply and share lessons learned across EPCs.
- Support qualification of new, non-approved suppliers.
- Assess contractor manpower loading and provide timely recommendations; backfill as needed.
- Support engineering to meet critical milestones and develop recovery plans for delays.
- Witness contractor work and sign off test and check sheets per requirements.
- Verify accuracy of EPC contractor progress reports.
- Participate in quality audits, report findings, and propose corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied sciences.
- 8+ years’ experience in large construction projects in the Oil & Gas industry, including supervisory exposure.
- Strong knowledge of design standards, codes, specifications, and safety criteria.
- Experience in hook-up, commissioning, completions walkdowns, and pre-startup safety reviews.
- Proven HVAC experience on large EPC projects with strong commissioning skills.
- Advanced expertise in testing and balancing (TAB) and HVAC performance testing (fans, AHUs).
- Advanced knowledge of refrigeration system commissioning and room integrity testing.
- Familiarity with F-gas regulations and HVAC equipment (e.g., AHI Carrier, Wozair).
- Experience with oil & gas operators, contractors, or heavy construction companies.
- Knowledge of fabrication, installation, transport, and brownfield execution processes.
- Understanding of offshore/onshore facilities and yard operations.
- Awareness of execution risks in sour gas and LNG facilities.
- Experience within large-scale operating organizations (Operations, Projects, etc.).
