The Electrical Technician will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in a power plant environment. The role requires hands-on expertise in generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, protection systems, PLCs, and associated electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment including:
- Generators, power and distribution transformers
- HV/LV switchgear, substations, LT/HT motors
- DC systems, VFDs, battery chargers, and UPS systems
- Maintenance and operation of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), preferably 132kV and above.
- Conduct testing and calibration of protection relays using tools such as PCM600, DIGSI 4, MiCOM Studio, and Enervista.
- Conduct testing of generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and MV motors using Omicron CPC100, CMC356, or similar equipment.
- Maintain SFC/Excitation systems and perform root cause analysis (RCA) and fault analysis.
- Maintain PLC systems and ensure proper functioning of communication protocols.
- Utilize SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC 6.0 for handling maintenance notifications, work orders, and spare parts management.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and provide analytical solutions to ensure minimal downtime.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5–10 years in a power plant environment
- Experience in combined cycle power plants (CCPP) and desalination units (MSF, RO) is highly preferred
- Maintenance of generators, transformers, HV/LV switchgear, substations, LT/HT motors, DC systems, VFDs, battery chargers, UPS systems
- Maintenance of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) – 132kV and above
- Protection relay testing (PCM600, DIGSI 4, MiCOM Studio, Enervista)
- Generator, transformer, circuit breaker, and MV motor testing (Omicron CPC100, CMC356)
- SFC/Excitation system maintenance
- Root cause analysis (RCA) and fault analysis
- PLC maintenance and communication protocols
- SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC 6.0 for maintenance management
