The purpose of the Mechanical/Piping QC Inspector is to interpret the suitability of products and processes against the designated specification requirements at scheduled and ad-hoc intervals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage contractors and third parties professionally and maintain effective working relationships.
- Review contractors’ quality deliverables and provide clear feedback to the quality focal point.
- Evaluate products and processes at key stages for compliance with specifications.
- Monitor work quality on-site and at fabrication workshops against technical requirements.
- Ensure proper control of materials and equipment to prevent degradation.
- Verify effective implementation of contractor processes and procedures.
- Conduct material and equipment inspections, including visual and dimensional checks.
- Maintain up-to-date project quality documentation and conformance records.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and coordinate significant issues with the quality focal point.
- Manage and participate in site quality verification activities and document outcomes.
- Record and follow up on product-related non-conformances.
- Support quality training programs by recommending topics and preparing material as required.
- Act as the on-site representative to ensure quality requirements and expectations are met.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent with recognized Trade Certificates.
- CSWIP 3.2.2 senior welding inspection certification (RT Interpretation).
- NDT certifications (ASNT Level II) in UT, MT, PT, and RT film interpretation.
- BGAS/NACE Certification.
- Minimum 8 years inspection experience in Oil & Gas projects, including LNG greenfield, brownfield, and shutdowns.
- Experience across procurement, fabrication, installation, hook-up, and commissioning phases.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 quality assurance principles.
- Extensive experience in offshore/onshore piping, valves, and static/rotating equipment inspection and testing.
- Hot-tap experience and familiarity with cryogenic service requirements.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, ASNT, NACE codes and standards.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with CRA-clad pipelines/piping (Alloy 625/825).
- Preferred experience in PAUT/TOFD inspection methods.
Skills and Competencies
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative.
- Advanced computer literacy.
- Solid technical background in welding, metallurgy, NDT, and fabrication
- Proven QC inspection and coordination experience.
