Job Description
The Construction Lead (HVAC) shall provide Hook-Up and Commissioning (HUC) oversight and direction to the project’s main contractor, sub contractors and vendors. Effectively collaborates and interfaces with facilities team and EPC contractor engineers and operations personnel. Provides coverage for multiple EPCs workshops, shop inspections and factory testing when and where required.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review key documents and reports from main subcontractors; attend review meetings as required.

  • Evaluate technical proposals, deviations, and new technologies for compliance with client standards.

  • Apply and share lessons learned across EPC projects.

  • Support qualification of new suppliers not on the approved vendor list.

  • Assess contractor manpower loading and recommend adjustments or backfill needs.

  • Ensure engineering progress aligns with project milestones; develop recovery plans for delays.

  • Witness and verify contractor work, sign off test/check sheets per project requirements.

  • Validate accuracy of EPC progress reports.

  • Participate in quality audits, report findings, and propose corrective actions.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering.

  • 8+ years’ experience in large Oil & Gas construction projects (installation, fabrication, hook-up, commissioning), including 1+ year in a supervisory/oversight role.


Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of design standards, codes, safety criteria, and offshore/onshore construction practices.

  • Skilled in HVAC systems for large EPC projects with expertise in commissioning, testing, and balancing (TAB).

  • Proficient in performance testing of fans, AHUs, refrigeration systems, and room integrity testing.

  • Familiar with F-gas regulations and equipment from AHI Carrier & Wozair.

  • Experience across Oil & Gas operators, contractors, and heavy construction firms.

  • Knowledge of fabrication, installation, brownfield execution, sour gas, and LNG facility operations.

  • Strong leadership, coordination, and planning abilities; proactive in managing scope and schedule changes.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; fluent in English.

  • Client-focused, adaptable to fast-paced environments, and able to travel as needed.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced computer literacy.

  • Familiar with global vendors and contractors.
